WWII German DAK Pith Helmet 1st Pattern

Offered is a first pattern tropical pith helmet. It is constructed with a khaki colored, ribbed cloth over a cork base and trimmed with a stitched on grayish/green leather band running along the edge.  Cloth cover is in excellent condition with minor soiling. The top center of the crown has a removable, cloth covered, ventilation knob with three ventilation openings. The helmet has both stamped metal shields with a army eagle on the left side and national tri-color shield on the right.  The interior of the helmet is lined in red cotton cloth which is also in very good condition.  Tan leather sweatband is fully intact and in very good condition. The sweatband is maker marked "FKL" and dated 1942 on the underside of the sweatband.  It is in excellent supple condition.  Helmet is size marked 58.  Missing most of the chin strap.  Very nice looking example.
